Memorial service for Sgt. Lance C. Davison Feb. 22

I am forwarding this along at the request of John Davison, Coconino NRCD Clerk.  His son, SGT Lance Davison, USMC, an OEF/OIF Combat Veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star, Navy Commendation Medal and Purple Heart; suddenly passed at his home in Flagstaff this month at the young age of 34.  The family has started a Memorial Fund in honor of their beloved son, and courageous United States Combat Veteran.

Our hearts and prayers are with John and his family as they mourn the terrible and tragic loss their son.  Please see the attached information for opportunities to show your love and support.

January lack of precipitation dominates most of the West

Month to date precipitation, 23 January 2014

The National Water and Climate Center produces this weekly report in cooperation with the National Drought Mitigation Center and other Federal agencies. The report focuses on precipitation, temperature and snowpack conditions in the western U.S., and provides a national drought summary.

Snow Telemetry (SNOTEL) month to date precipitation percent of normal shows that the central and northern Rockies have received abundant moisture.  Significant deficits dominate the remainder of the West; especially over the southern Cascades, Sierra Nevada, Great Basin, Four Corners region, Arizona, and New Mexico.

Note that it takes only a few winter storms to help increase values to near normal over the Southwest, whereas it requires more storms to have the same impact over the Pacific Northwest. Read more…
